This Privacy Policy explains how Choni ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and services (the "Service"). By using Choni you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who we are

Choni is an AI assistant and IELTS preparation platform built for Kurdish, English, and Arabic speakers. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@choni.ai.

2. Information we collect

• Account data: email address, display name, and authentication provider (e.g. Google).
• Usage data: chat messages, IELTS attempts, scores, generated content, and feature interactions.
• Technical data: IP address, device type, browser, language, and approximate location.
• Payment data: handled by our payment processor. We do not store card numbers.

3. How we use your information

• To provide and improve the Service, including AI chat, tutoring, and IELTS scoring.
• To personalise study plans and track your progress over time.
• To enforce usage limits, prevent abuse, and secure our systems.
• To send essential service emails (account, billing, security).

4. AI processing

Messages you send are transmitted to third-party AI providers (including Google Gemini via the Choni AI Gateway) to generate responses. Do not send sensitive personal, medical, financial, or confidential information through the chat.

5. Data sharing

We share data only with processors necessary to run the Service:

• Supabase (database, authentication, storage)
• Choni AI Gateway (AI inference)
• Cloudflare (hosting, CDN)
• Payment processor (billing)

We never sell your personal data.

6. Data retention

Account and usage data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may delete individual chats and IELTS attempts at any time. Deleting your account removes your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, UK GDPR, and similar), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to processing. Email privacy@choni.ai to exercise these rights.

8. Children

Choni is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit, row-level security on our database, and least-privilege access. No system is 100% secure.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified via the Service or by email.
